-"Environmental Integration": Power to Dream Powers Future-
Toyota Motor Sales & Marketing Corporation (TMSM) exhibited "PES (Peace Eco Smile) a collaborative animation project with STUDIO4C, at Anime Festival Asia (AFA), the region's biggest festival for Japanese popular culture which was held on November 8-10 in Singapore.
Through experiencing and sharing anime, music and entertainment spaces, the PES project aims for the realization of a sustainable society by organically conveying ideas about people, society and nature coexisting, as well as global environment conservation, energy issues and ecology, and portraying dreams together. Expressing dreams through animation and pictures supports creativity and makes the future. We believe that by exerting the potential of Japan's animation technology and collecting the imagination of children around the world, we can depict a future where we can evolve together. In this way, based on our "PES Next Generation" concept, we are producing anime with up-and-coming directors, as well as using music and other content, and collaborating with a range of places, things and people.
In 2013, beginning with "Tokyo Anime Fair", PES has been active in music concerts and other stage events around the world, including "Japan Expo" in France and "J-Pop Summit" in San Francisco.
In AFA 2013, a main part of PES booth exhibits was the key visual drawn by Tatsuyuki Tanaka (animation director) for "Toruru's Adventure," the PES Next Generation's animation film currently in production. In addition to the PES exhibits and games, our events featured video exhibits of the "Toyota Dream Car Art Contest" which has been held every year since 2004 and received 612,000 entries from 70 countries in 2012, interactive experiences with the smartphone game app "PLUG-IN Championship created by TMSM and PARTY and which brings a "Fun to Charge" excitement to the everyday act of charging batteries to smartphone users, and AOP (Anime O-en Project) concerts, all getting in touch with the people in Asia who love Japanese pop culture so they could fully enjoy the world of PES. Through this global expansion, PES aspires to transcend differences in languages or values, and have our message permeate further out into the world.
The PES booth hosted number of activities throughout the event, including AOP autograph sessions and mini games, NaSuBi ball target game and others.
AOP (Anime O-en Project), a girls' band who came to AFA to cheer for the PES booth, held talks and live performances at AFA mini stage on 8 and 10 Nov, being filled with excitement.

Toyota Dream Car Art Contest
As we manufacture products, we know how important dreams are.
Without dreams, we will not have the passion to produce products or create the future.
Dreams are the most valuable possessions of human beings and give us enormous energy.
This project is returning to the origins of making things through the liberated and pure ideas of children, using the energy of children to realize a sustainable future that we want to head towards together. At the same time it is also communicating the importance of dreaming. It has been held every year since 2004 and has received 612,000 entries from 70 countries in 2012.

Dreaming is an energy source for manufacturing
Human evolution is represented by mobility that brings new discoveries and impressions. TOYOTA is defining a vision for developing a sustainable society as a great dream for everyone: To realize an environmentally friendly society while still satisfying basic human needs. When this comes true, not only a form of transportation, mobility will also have a genuine social and cultural meaning. Such a dream is an energy source for manufacturing.
Expressing dreams through animation and pictures supports creativity and makes the future. We believe that by exerting the potential of Japan's animation technology and collecting the imagination of children around the world, we can depict a future where we can evolve together.
Toytoyota project: PES concept
Cars bring our mobility to life, and yet all too often, everyone talks about the complicated technological aspects of automobiles rather than just the joy of mobility. TOYOTA has discovered the "TOY" in its own corporate name as the origin of lively and cheerful joy. Then, as part of ToyToyota projects aimed at spreading the joy of mobility, TOYOTA and STUDIO4C, a leading Japanese animation studio, have together created an animation series, PES (Peace Eco Smile), following a curious alien exploring the joy of driving and the importance of safety. In 2013 as a new "NEXT GENERATION", PES is producing creative animated works in the basis of the theme "Environmental Integration" (which includes conservation of the environment, caution for energy problem and the idea of ecology to realize the sustainable society where people can live with nature and society harmoniously). Every director of these works is unique but the theme they want to convey is the same with PES. Through the animated works, PES hopes to convey these messages, globally, though out all generations, especially to art loving people.
Can we together create "the future that everyone wants" to change ideas about mass consumption and economic efficiency today? The energy to do this is actually inside human hearts. The source for putting it in motion is music and this is why PES is making music videos along with a new animation film.
The power of anime and music can cross over barriers of language and nation, creating understanding between diverse cultures and civilizations, giving us courage and healing. It is the energy of miracles.
PES is this new energy, wishing to be the path towards a future we can create at any time.
