Seiko Watch CEO Hattori Presents World's First GPS Solar Watch "Seiko Astron" to New Economy Summit Guest Speakers

Shinji Hattori, President & CEO of Seiko Watch Corporation, was proud to personally present the official gift of a Seiko Astron, the world's first GPS solar watch, to each of the esteemed 21 guest speakers at the Japan New Economy Summit 2013, held on April 16, 2013, at the Hotel New Otani Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan. This highly respected event, hosted by the Japan Association of New Economy (JANE), was led by Mr. Hiroshi Mikitani, Representative Director and CEO & Board Chairman of Rakuten, Inc, Japan, and focused on the importance and growth of the Internet.

Receiving this watch exclusively, guest speakers of the summit included top US e-business leaders such as Mr. Andy Rubin, SVP Google; Mr. Jack Dorsey, CEO and Co-Founder Square/Co-Founder Twitter; Niklas Zennstrom, CEO Atomico/Co-Founder Skype; Mr. Ben Silbermann, Co-Founder and CEO, Pinterest; and Mr. Phil Libin, CEO of Evernote Corporation, in the presence of over 1,000 participants in the conference. Mr. Libin, an avid traveler due to his high demands, said, "I love watches. You don't need a watch to tell time anymore, so the only reason to wear a watch is if it's really amazing. The Seiko Astron is amazing; a combination of beautiful design and technology. A fully solar-powered GPS watch is a breakthrough."

"It is my great honor to have a chance to exhibit SEIKO Astron on this very prestigious occasion of the first Japan New Economy Summit," said Shinji Hattori. "I was very excited to present this watch to some of the world's most important front-line business leaders who have assembled here for the conference. The work of these true pioneering spirits takes them around the world and in and out of time zones, so they will truly be able to appreciate the value of this watch."

About Seiko Astron: The Seiko Astron is the world's first GPS solar watch. It requires no external power source and is entirely self-sustaining. Using just the power of light, it connects to the GPS network, and tells time with atomic clock precision, adjusting at the touch of a button to all 39 time zones on earth. Like its illustrious predecessor, the world's first quartz watch in 1969, the new Astron GPS Solar will change the way that the world tells time. Only Seiko can deliver what the international traveler has long wanted, a watch that understands and adjusts to time zones.

About Seiko Watch Corporation: Seiko Watch Corporation is a wholly-owned business subsidiary of Seiko Holdings Corporation, which was established in 1881, and has contributed to society with one revolutionary product after another -- starting with the production of Japan's first wristwatch in 1913 and including the creation of the world's first quartz watch in 1969. Now its global network covers more than 60 countries worldwide, marketing the wristwatches under the vision 'Innovation and Refinement'.
