ISHIGAKIJIMA, Mar. 28, 2019 – Art Hotel Ishigakijima, located on the heights of Ishigaki City, will open its renewed outdoor hotel pool on Monday, April 1, 2019 as the “Garden Pool.” With its new "urban resort" concept, a stylish poolside area surrounded by tropical plants awaits visitors. The Garden Pool will not only offer a place to swim, but also a soothing and relaxing space to break away from one's daily life.

Food and drink menus for the pool have also been updated to now feature items that use local Ishigaki Island ingredients, such as hot Painu pork bacon sandwiches, mountain pepper green curry, and Ishigaki pineapple tropical juice, providing visitors with a full tropical resort experience. The deck and poolside areas will act as spaces for guests to refresh.

Creating an Urban Resort

Art Hotel Ishigakijima re-opened in April 2017 with a renewed, urban resort-themed interior. Following this transformation, the hotel has gone beyond simply providing accommodations to embarking on brand-new initiatives and opening new facilities, leveraging its connections to the area and convenient location. The hotel will also act as a place for people to learn about Ishigakijima.

April 2018: Starting the ART BOOK Initiative

The hotel started its ART BOOK initiative, comprised of original activities themed around the region, history, and culture in April 2018. Through these activities, Art Hotel Ishigakijima is promotes the appeal of Ishigakijima, Okinawa and Asia in general from a creative standpoint by holding exhibitions, creating owned media, running events, and more.

June 2018: The opening of DOUG'S COFFEE

DOUG'S COFFEE Art Hotel Ishigakijima was opened in order to provide customers with authentic pour-over coffee. This has allowed visitors to enjoy themselves even more as they spend their time reading or using their PCs at the Resort Lounge.

July 2018: The construction of The ART SHOP

The hotel's gift shop was renewed as The ART SHOP, a new shop that also acts as an art gallery. By holding exhibitions exclusive to Art Hotel Ishigakijima, the space is now used as a place where locals and guests can interact.

April 2019: The opening of The Garden Pool

The pool area, including the swimming pool, was revitalized as a stylish new space. Plans will be made going forward for new ways to use this area, through service-related projects, events, and more.
