OHTANI CHARM
Students and teachers
Children in the Ohtani district, where water supply has yet to be restored, have taken the initiative to plan and create products for their community!
Suzu City Ohtani Elementary and Junior High School is located at the northernmost tip of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. After the earthquake, the total number of students dropped to five. Wanting to "do what they can for the recovery of Suzu City," the students came up with the idea of selling products made from materials produced in Ohtani in a gachapon machine to introduce the charm of the Ohtani district to many people and donate the proceeds. The products were also made by the students and teachers. However, just as they were about to start selling in Suzu City in September, the Noto heavy rain occurred. The Ohtani district suffered extensive landslides and flooding, and the water supply has yet to be restored.
All 70 charms, which were originally planned to be sold over three days in Suzu City, sold out in just an hour and a half.
On October 13th (Sun), the first sale was held in Suzu City. Although the gachapon machine was scheduled to be set up for three days, all 70 charms, which were planned to be sold over the three-day period, sold out in just an hour and a half.
On the first day of sales in Tokyo, one 9th-grade student will be present.
