Short Films Jointly Made by Japanese and
Southeast Asian Students Are Now Available Online
The Japan Foundation Asia Center has carried out "...and Action! Asia Exchange Program for Students in Film Studies," inviting university students majoring in film studies from Japan and Southeast Asian countries since 2015. It aims at fostering mutual understanding and nurturing global views to enrich their creativity.
In 2017, the program was co-organized with the University of the Philippines Film Institute, in cooperation with the Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and held in the Philippines from late February to early March for 13 days. This was the first workshop held outside Japan.
At the workshop, 19 students in film studies from Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia made three short films and received special lectures by film professionals who lead Filipino film industry. The works the participants made were screened at Cine Adarna of the University of the Philippines and reviewed by the other participants and the professionals.

[About "...and Action! Asia #03: Exchange Program for Students in Film Studies"]
In 2015, the Japan Foundation Asia Center launched this program to build up a platform for active dialogues and exchanges among students in film studies in Japan and other Asian countries. This program aims at deepening their exchange, developing their mutual understanding, and creating possibilities of co-productions.
Each year until 2020, students and instructors gather in Japan or one of Southeast Asian countries to acquire international mindedness and establish networks through this program.
