AIST will hold the 4th Conference of RD20 as a part of Tokyo GX Week organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Directors and representatives from various research institutes will discuss the action plan for realizing the “Leaders Statement” (https://rd20.aist.go.jp/rd20-3/) issued with the agreement of each institute at the 3rd RD20.

The conference aims to quickly realize a carbon-neutral society through international joint projects such as solar power generation and hydrogen, and creation of human resource development plans.

 

Overview

The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (Tokyo Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo / President: Kazuhiko Ishimura, hereinafter referred to as “AIST”) will hold the international conference “The 4th RD20”, from Tuesday October 4 to Thursday October 6, 2022. Technical Session (registration required): Tuesday, October 4, 2022, 9:30-17:20(JST) Online

Workshop for International Collaboration (invitation required): Wednesday, October 5, 2022, 13:00-16:00(JST)

Leaders Session (registration required): Thursday, October 6, 2022, 13:00-17:00(JST) Tokyo Prince Hotel / Online

 

Host: AIST

Co-hosts (to be applied for): Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Ministry of the Environment, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)

 

* The Technical Session will consist of the following three themes and will be held online:

Theme 1: Hydrogen Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Techno Economic Analysis (TEA)

Theme 2: Renewable Energy Generation and Integration

Theme 3: Carbon Management

* The Leaders Session will consist of keynote addresses and roundtable discussions and will be a hybrid format of online and in person at the Tokyo Prince Hotel.

[Overview of the Conference]

L aunched in 2019, the RD20 is a framework for international research and development aiming to strengthen international collaboration and promote innovation by leading research institutes in G20 countries and regions that develop the world’s most advanced technologies for achieving carbon neutrality. RD20 provides opportunities for participants to exchange R&D activities and experiences and best practices related to clean energy technologies across countries and regions, as well as to explore the potential for international joint research. It also serves to deepen and develop new partnerships among relevant industries, academias, and government stakeholders.
