Chiba Governor Morita Meets Former Prime Minister Mahathir in Malaysia

- Results of Governor Morita's Personal Sales Promotion -

Governor Kensaku Morita of Chiba Prefecture visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from January 21 through 26, and had talks with former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir bin Mohamad, Minister of Tourism and Culture Nazri Aziz and others.

- Meeting with former Prime Minister Mahathir to hear his views on Japan

Governor Morita met with former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, who is known for his friendly stance toward Japan. Dr. Mahathir told him that trying to learn from the West would lead to failure and that Japan should make use of its originality in searching for its future direction. This has made Governor Morita realize anew that it is important for his prefecture to brush up what is unique to it.

- Agreement with Minister of Tourism and Culture on youth exchange program and on holding fairs

Governor Morita met with high Malaysia government officials for an exchange of views. He stressed the importance of youth exchanges during talks with Minister of Tourism and Culture Nazri and the two agreed to promote mutual exchanges. They also confirmed that they will work together to hold a Malaysian fair in Chiba Prefecture and a Chiba fair in Kuala Lumpur.
