Waseda signs MOU with University of Tehran
In October, Waseda University completed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Tehran, Waseda's first with an Iranian university.
Waseda has welcomed many Iranian international students and researchers over the years. Waseda is also home to the Organization for Islamic Area Studies, Japan's most respected research center for Islamic studies.
"Iran and Japan have a long-standing relationship. I am incredibly happy to form the first cooperative agreement between Waseda and an Iranian university. This partnership will enable focused collaboration in education and research," said President Kamata at the signing ceremony.
University of Tehran President Mahmoud Nili Ahmadabadi said, "I studied in Japan for four years and understand the brilliance of Japanese culture, science and technology. I am very happy to form a cooperation agreement with Waseda University."
Waseda has agreements with over 700 institutions around the world in order to promote international exchange in education and research. These relationships support Waseda's position as the top university in Japan for international activities, number one in study abroad, incoming and outgoing, for several years running.
