Governor Kensaku Morita of Chiba Prefecture will visit the Republic of Singapore for the first time from November 15 to 18, 2018, to make a top-level sales pitch for Chiba’s attractive farm/fishery products and cuisine.

1. Business talks tied in with sampling of Chiba’s farm/fishery products

Time & date: 12:00-12:30 (*), November 16

Place: Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay

Details: Chiba Prefecture, one of Japan’s leading farm and fishery producers, promotes such products by serving dishes made with Chiba ingredients, including fresh sweet potatoes and alfonsino. The meeting is expected to lead to full-scale business negotiations involving representatives of dozens of companies from both Chiba and Singapore.

2. Event to promote Chiba foods

Time & date: 14:25-14:50 (*), November 17

Place: Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay

Details: Chiba Prefecture will host an event for local media to experience the attractiveness of Chiba’s foods by sampling original dishes prepared by Singapore chef Petrina Loh (**) with ingredients from Chiba. There will also be a demonstration and sampling of fat-rolled “futomaki” sushi, a local specialty of Chiba.

(*) The times indicate when the governor is scheduled to appear.

(**) Petrina Loh: Moved to the United States at 29 to hone her skills as a chef. Built her experience at famous restaurants, including Michelin-starred establishments. Opened “Morsels” in Singapore in 2013. Won two titles at the World Gourmet Summit 2017.

Profile of Chiba Governor Kensaku Morita:

- An actor. Starred in numerous youth movies and TV dramas like “Orewa Otokoda!” ( I’m a man! ) Later served as a popular newscaster.

- Elected to the House of Councillors for the first time in 1992. Held government posts, including parliamentary vice-minister of education.

- Due to make his first visit to Singapore in November 2018 for top-level sales promotion.
